I've always wanted to try making chocolate truffles and we happened to have all the ingredients on hand. The best part about this recipe was that it was a lot of fun to make. You can top the truffles with basically anything so my creative juices started flowing. I found almonds and coconut, which are pretty common for truffles. I also saw some dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe's on the counter... genius. I popped those into the freezer so they'd be easier to chop into small pieces. The fourth topping we used was cinnamon and sugar topped with a little bit of sea salt flakes!
These can be topped with anything or even dipped in melted chocolate to create a hard exterior shell. Maybe try adding candy cane pieces for the upcoming Christmas season! These truffles are so easy to make, you'll be sure to impress your friends.
